James joined Vertex in 2013 and was involved in investment and portfolio management activities in both technology and healthcare deals. Since 2017, James led the Partnership Group at Vertex Holdings, which supports underlying Vertex Funds in portfolio value creation through cross-border business development and drives the expansion of Vertex’s network by engaging stakeholders including investors, strategic corporate partners and industry.
Prior to Vertex, James was Managing Director at Roots Capital, a fund management company in Singapore and was part of the founding team at Fullerton Credit, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Temasek, focused on SME lending and microfinance in China since 2008. He was General Manager of Chongqing regional business before he left in 2013.
James started his career as a Singapore Navy officer and was awarded the prestigious SAF (Overseas) Scholarship. He graduated from Oxford University with a Masters and First Class Honours in Engineering Science.
