Gabriel has been leading work in the climate and forestry sector in Southeast Asia since 2005. He specializes in creating market-driven solutions to conservation, ecosystem restoration and community forestry initiatives through project, jurisdictional and national approaches to Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD+). In 2009 he co-founded Forest Carbon Indonesia, one of the leading carbon project developers in Indonesia before starting Lestari Capital in 2017. He has worked on natural climate initiatives in over a dozen countries across Southeast Asia, Central Africa and South America and advised national government and sub-national programs, including the Indonesian REDD+ Agency, the Vietnam National REDD+ Program, the Ecuadorian Ministry of Environment and the National REDD+ System of Laos.
